Emergency Drug Guides

The NWTS Emergency Drug Guides have been developed through expert clinical review of available evidence. They have been developed for NWTS use, alongside established drug formularies. They are not prescriptions, but are designed to provide easily accessible information to aid NWTS healthcare professionals when they make clinical decisions about patient treatment. Responsibility for the prescribing, checking, and administration of all medications remains with those undertaking these processes. NWTS service users are welcome to consult these Emergency Drug Guides alongside local and national formularies should this be thought to be of assistance in the emergency stabilisation of critically unwell children. NWTS however assumes no responsibility or liability for their use outside the NWTS service.

To ensure the latest version is used it is advised a new guide is generated from the NWTS website for each individual patient at the point of use. These guides will be regularly reviewed. It is strongly discouraged to have pre-printed copies for all weights as this presents the risk of out of date guides being used.
