NWTS are pleased to announce that their private Ambulance Service provider - Medical Services - has won the Northwest Procurement Development - Excellence in Supply Award 2013 for “Improving the Patient Pathway – Children’s Acute Service”.

These Awards, judged by a panel of Clinical, Operational, Finance and Procurement professionals from across the North West NHS Trust, recognise and reward suppliers to the various NHS Trusts across the North West.

Medical Services has provided a dedicated Emergency Ambulance Service to NWTS since November 2010. NWTS is a collaboration between the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. The Service transports sick and injured children who require urgent transfer between hospitals to receive specialist, and often lifesaving, treatment.

Crews assigned to the contract have been handpicked for their skills, knowledge, experience and compassion in dealing with young patients and their families. The team have developed over the years to see their role as a vocation rather than ‘just a job’.
